Mrs. Ida Lois Martin

Obituary Ida “Lois” Tucker Martin, the daughter of the late Willis and Delilah Tucker, was born in Norfolk County, Virginia on January 14, 1937. Lois was the fourth of five children. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. At a young age Lois attended the Norfolk County Public School System. She accepted Christ at an early age and continued to serve Him throughout her adult life. Lois was baptized at the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia. Lois spent most of her early life working to take care of her children, Bobby and Sheron. In January 1967, Lois married Aaron Martin and the moved to Cleveland, Ohio. She quickly found a new church home and joined Starlight Baptist Church where she was a member of the Flower Guild. Lois became a member of a local Eastern Star Order and served as the Treasurer. Lois was a dedicated mother, wife, homemaker, and friend. She was extremely friendly and loved her family. She would go to Virginia and spend weeks visiting family members. Back in Cleveland, she entertained her in-laws and remained very close to them. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas. She would decorate the house inside and out, hanging all sorts of lights and ornaments. Another holiday festival was 4th of July which was her husband’s birthday and that meant a big cookout. Lois would spend hours and hours making sure everything and everybody was okay. Her special sauce for the ribs had to be just right and she would make the infamous “homemade rolls”, a party or crowd favorite. She loved her family and her love shines in everything she did with them as well as for them. Her willingness to help and that big smile made her a special person. On November 10, 2014, Lois moved from this life to eternal life with the Lord. And knowing Lois, she is up there cooking “rolls” right now. She leaves to mourn her husband of 47 years Aaron Martin; one son Bobby Rucker (LaSandra) of Suffolk, VA and a daughter, Sheron Perkins (Anthony) of Cleveland, OH; nine grandchildren: Sharáe Grant of Atlanta, Christopher Tucker, Bobby Tucker, Jr., Rockquette Davis, Tameka Hughes and Philip Tucker all of Cleveland, OH, Meridith, Matthew and Marcus Tucker of Suffolk, VA; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Della Watts (Willie) of Cleveland and Esther Smith (Willie) of Atlanta; two brothers-in-law, Albert (Janna) of Jacksonville, NC and Preston (Deborah) of Triangle, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
