Gloria Pauls Obituary Gloria Reid-Pauls was born on April 22, 1946, to Mr. Jesse Reid Sr. and Jeanette Reid in Atlanta, Georgia. Gloria was the oldest of seven and made sure you knew that. She’s preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Ronald Reid Sr., Richard Reid Sr., and Johnny Reid. Gloria moved to Cleveland, Ohio, at 11 years old with her other siblings, some of whom had not been born yet in 1957. She attended Quincy Elementary School and Rawlings Junior High School. Gloria graduated from East Technical High School in 1964. After entering the workforce and becoming a mother in November 1967, Gloria welcomed her first child, Eric L. Reid (Osei Ali Makamu). After some time as a mother, Gloria reentered the workforce and was employed at Lane Bryant Management offices in Downtown Cleveland from 1969 to 1980. During this time, Gloria met and married Mr. Joe W. Pauls, and that union welcomed their daughter, Sandra Pauls. She adored her children. While working at Lane Bryant, she worked alongside her childhood friend Mary “Tweet” Stephens and coworker Gloria Jean McMullen. After working various jobs, Gloria landed a position with the Sheraton Inn in downtown Cleveland from 1986 to 2001. She was independent and hard-working. Gloria and her sister, Marian Reid, accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior. They were members of the Cleveland Church of Christ for many years. Gloria enjoyed thrift shopping with her village and spending time with her grandchildren, family, and close friends. She loved music and dancing with her children. She loved being a bonus Mom to many of you in this room. Gloria Reid-Pauls enjoyed being called GLO. She was hilarious and loved playing cards with the grandchildren, playing the lottery, and riding around listening to music with her girl, Sandra. Gloria Reid-Pauls leaves loving memories to her children Osei Ali Makamu (Layla) and Sandra Pauls, Regina Williams (Anthony) siblings Marian Reid, Jesse Reid Jr., and Juerod Reid, and grandchildren Shalon S. Salters (Greg), Amir J. Reid (Tiara), Marcus A. Reid, Darnell M. McMullen ll, Maliek Makamu, Hali Makamu, Kamaria Grayer and Chamar Simmons.
