Gilbert Primus Obituary The Measure of this man Gilbert L. Primus was born March 28, 1953 to his parents Flora W. Primus and Julius R. Primus in Cleveland Ohio. Gilbert was a longtime resident of Cleveland, Ohio he was tenacious, meticulous in his resolve to get things accomplished within his family and community. Earlier on Gilbert attended Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament grade School, Cathedral Latin High School and Cleveland State University. Additionally, Gilbert was a Boy Scout, and an Altar Server. He also served as a Lector for many Catholic Churches for many years. Gilbert was a diligent and trusted hardworking man. His first job at the age of sixteen was at a restaurant “The Red Fox” Cleveland Ohio. He was helpful working in our father’s real estate office “Good Earth Real Estate and Primus Insurance Service” in the summer and on weekend. Gilbert was an active member of number of Street Blocks Association and a member of Precinct Community Council. Gilbert faithfully attended the Community Board Meetings. He is a member of the NAACP and number of others Organizations. His interest in matters of Civic concern was kindled at an early age while he was involved in student government in high school. Those experience serve as a catalyst for him to fanfare into community service an endeavor which became a lifelong commitment. Community work was Gilbert enduring passion he assisted in fundraising for charities and many years participated in the March of Dimes organization and The Board of Election. A strong believer in God and love in service to human kind, Gilbert vocation in 5 Human Services spanned four decades. Gilbert spent his entire career working in community service work. He was an activist in the best sense of the word, often staying. “God Helps those who Help themselves.” Gilbert loved to travel and especially enjoyed cruising aboard “The Queen Elizabeth 2 and Queen Mary 2 Ocean liners. He was also a lover of music, dancing, playing basketball and the Arts. In the arear of recreation he enjoys playing the Lotto, he was an excellent card player especially “Bid Whist” and a fantastic Billiard player and artist at heart. He worked feverishly for justice and fairness for all. We will deeply miss his wry with, sarcastic flair, and the sparkle in his eye with his know it all attitude. On Thursday, May 16th, 2024 Gilbert L. Primus peacefully departed from us at Cleveland Clinic, Fairview Hospital surrounded by his brother Douglas, Family and Friends. He leaves to cherish his Loving Memories. His siblings Douglas R. Primus, Julia F. Primus, nephew Jabari J.T. Brown. Host of others relatives and friends, last but not lease his extent church family.
