Fred Ross Jr. Obituary ***Public Viewing at Service Only!*** Fred Ross, Jr., was a native of Cleveland, Ohio and a resident of Warrensville Heights, Ohio. His faithful life came to an end on December 20, 2024 when he answered the Master’s call to his Heavenly home. He was born September 27, 1936, to the late Archie C. Ross and Clara Horn-Ross. Fred affectionately known to many as “Grandpa” “Pop” and “Ready Freddie,” was educated at Cuyahoga County Public School System, Cleveland, Ohio. He met and married Nellie M. “Gold” Ross, the mother of their five sons. They remained married for a number of years and finally in death. Fred later met and married the love of his life, Doris Bumpers Ross. They remained united in holy matrimony for 29 years until death. As a youth, he accepted and confessed Christ and united with the Providence Baptist Church where he led a progressive life and attended faithfully until his health failed. Fred served his country in the United States Military during the Korean War and multiple conflicts (2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team) (15th Infantry Regiment) for four years. He was appreciated as “A welder (Pickle Line)” at LTV Steel for 43 years. He was famous for listening and recording music, picture taker, and making friends wherever the location. Fred loved life and making others happy sharing throughout his community and communities stretching as far as Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. He loved meeting people in all walks of life. He was preceded in death by his father, Archie C. Ross; mother, Clara Horn-Ross; one brother, Jessie Ross; two sons, Archie Ross and Willie Claude Pippens. Fred leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted loving wife, Doris Bumpers Ross; five sons; Christopher Pippens, Corona, CA., Fred Ross, II, Cincinnati, Ohio, Eric K. Ross, Sr., Cleveland, Ohio, Derrie Ross, Cleveland, Ohio, and Leo Demetrius (Tawana) Frazier, Lawrenceville, GA. One sister; Ruby Ross, MO., four sisters-in-law; Alvera Ross, Cleveland, Ohio, Rosie “Lawyer” Howze, Jackson, AL., Barbara Chapman-Troy, Detroit, MI., Patricia (Willie) Slater, Douglasville, GA, One brother-in-law; Charles Randal (Edith) Bumpers, Jackson, AL. six grandchildren; One devoted, Gabrielle Amour Della Frazier, Ryan Ross, Eric K. Ross, Jr., Brittani Carmichael, Derrius Terrell Ross, Jailen Frazier, and a number of great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
