Eric Mumford Obituary ERIC NEAL MUMFORD SUNRISE JANUARY 1,1951 SUNSET DECEMBER 23, 2022 Eric Neal Mumford was born January 1, 1951 in Cleveland, OH, the youngest of three children born to Forney, Sr. and Bernice Mumford nee Smith. He grew up in a close- knit family with his brother, Forney Jr. and sister, Cathryn. Their love and friendship sustained them throughout their lives. Eric was a former member of Mount Olive MBC under the pastorate of Rev. Larry L. Harris before moving to Phoenix, AZ Eric was a phenomenal athlete and leader. He excelled in football, becoming a team captain and first black quarterback at Shaker Heights High School. Also, while attending high school, Eric was a decorated Captain for the track and basketball teams. He received an athletic scholarship to the University of Cincinnati, double majoring in Accounting and Finance, all while starting a family. Eric was a true entrepreneur by nature! Upon graduation, he started his own Accounting firm, Eric Mumford, Inc.. As his business grew, so did his family. Four sons were born from his first marriage to Dawn nee Decatur: Rakim, Kareem, Ihsaan and Michael. Years later after raising his four older boys and growing his business, Eric met and married the love of his life, Lynn Toler. From this union two sons were born: William (aka "Billy')Toler and Xavier (aka "Zay") Mumford. The subsequent years were filled with much happiness as the blended family of sons and their offspring enjoyed each other. Eric's life ended unexpectedly. He leaves to treasure his memory wife, Lynn Toler; sons: Rakim (aka "Dude"; Kiz), Kareem, Ihsaan (Kim), Michael, William & Xavier; grandchildren: Porter, Balance, Immanuel, Elijah, Ileia, Ellisa Elia Israel, Elena and Orion; siblings: Forney Jr. and Cathryn Mumford; sister-in-law: Kathy Toler; first cousins: Irene Tucker, Sandra Blanchard, Karen Bolden (Albert aka "Suger"), Sandra Simpkins (John), John Foster, Jr., Warren Mantooth,Jr. (Gloria); nieces/nephews: Jessica Robinson, Kimberly McCallum (Duane) Robin Tucker, Dana Tucker, Daymon (d.), and Nathan (d.) Mumford; great nephews: Jordon, Jarrod and Julian Robinson, special cousin Kandra Bolden and a host of other relatives and very special close friends and business partners.
