Mrs. Ella Lolee Johnson

Ella Lolee Johnson was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, after having had the opportunity to share a joy-filled and loving life with her family and friends. Ella, also affectionately called Mama, PaMa Ella, Grandma, and Doonie by her family was born in DeKalb, Mississippi on November 28, 1920 to Clay and Ina Neely (both deceased). She was the oldest of 10 children including six brothers Henry Clay aka “Bro” (deceased), James aka “Thump” (deceased), Ben aka “Snook” (deceased), Jimmy aka “Babo”, Marvin and Charlie, and two sisters, Mary Jo, Lanolia aka “Nola” and one still- born. Ella was united in holy matrimony to James Evans, Sr. (deceased in April 1954), together they had four children: James, Jr. (deceased), Tommy Lee (deceased) Patricia Elaine (Davis), and Jack. Ella had one son, Edward Neely prior to this marriage who was adopted by her parents, Clay and Ina Neely. On December 11, 1965 a second union occurred between her and David Johnson (deceased December 3, 2006). Together they raised her four children. Ella retired from Sherwood Refractories in the early 1980’s after more than 25 years of service. Ella re-dedicated her life to the Lord in 1980 and joined the family of Christ at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio with her husband David. She served faithfully as a deaconess and loved serving the Lord with all her heart. She served her church family and community until health issues caused her to relinquish her most loved position and move in with her daughter and son-in-law. She loved travelling and spending time telling stories with her family on camping trips, road trips, cruises and at family get-togethers. Ella leaves to cherish her memory three children: Ed Neely, Patricia Davis (Robert), and Jack Evans (Lynette), daughter-in-law Cora Evans; three brothers: Jimmy (Ginny), Marvin (Louise), and Charlie (Ruby); and a sister: Lanolia Washington. She will also be missed by grandchildren: Marvin, Rodney, David III, Dava, Jack Jr., Melvin, Janise, Crystal, Damon, Bobby, Donnie, Bryan and Trevail. Many other adoring relatives and friends will mourn her passing.
