Earl Chapple Obituary A Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Great, Great, Grandfather A Man ~ Mr. Earl Edward Chapple Augustus and Mary Lenora Chapple were blessed on April 19, 1925 with the birth of their second son, Earl Edward Chapple. Their son would be best described as a compassionate family man. He adored his brother James Earl Chapple, and the love for his family would be evident throughout his life. Earl, who was raised by a God-fearing woman, accepted the Lord as His personal Savior at an early age. He read the Bible often, and demonstrated the love of Jesus by opening his home to the neighborhood children and sharing words of wisdom with them. Earl was a smart man who attended school in Louisiana. When he and his parents relocated, he completed his formal education at East Technical High School in Cleveland, Ohio. Two years after completing high school, he was drafted during World War II into the United States Army. After protecting his country from 1944-46, he returned home, where he would meet the love of his life. Earl, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, had an outgoing personality and enjoyed the beauty of the classy ladies. His heart was stolen when he met a woman with a southern charm and beauty. On September 4, 1954, he married the love of his life, who blessed him with seven adorable children. Viola Bernice Polk Chapple and Earl were happily married until her death in 2000. Earl had a strong work ethic. He was employed by Sunny Acres Hospital for over 30 years. He was a part of generation that worked hard, took care of their family and “saved for a rainy day.” He didn’t worry about being like others, but instead charted his own course in life as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. It is often said a woman can judge how a man will treat her by watching how he treats his mother. Earl Chapple adored his mother. After his father died, Earl dedicated his life to taking care of his beautiful and compassionate mother until her death at age 87. His caring demeanor was evident as he welcomed members of his wife’s family into his home. His home often became a place of shelter for those who needed it. Earl didn’t like to be confined. He said to his daughter a few days before his earthly transition, “Mona I want to go for a ride.” On 02.02.2020, our heavenly father took Earl Edward Chapple for his final ride. Upon arrival at his eternal designation, Earl was greeted by his parents and his brother. He was also greeted by, and united with, his beloved wife and daughters, Betty Jo and Mary Lenora Chapple. Earl knew that children were a gift from God, and he took great delight in watching his children grow up to be responsible adults with strong work ethics. He will live in the hearts of his children, Shirley A. (Alford) Simmons, of Montgomery, Alabama; Reginald E. (Pamela) Chapple of Cleveland, Ohio; Ronald E. (Cynthia) Chapple of Rochester, NY; Ramona Chapple of Cleveland, Ohio; Bernard (Kaye) Chapple of Cleveland, Ohio. Earl loved being a father, but the joy of his existence was evident when his 17 grandchildren filled the front yard of his home on hot summer days. His heart beamed with excitement as he welcomed his 43 great-grands and 14 great-great grands.
