Dorothy Smith Obituary Dorothy Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, was born to the late Maud and Willie Woodley on September 22, 1925 in Lima, Ohio. Having a love for the Lord, Dorothy accepted Christ at the early age of 15 years old at the Fourth Street Baptist Church in Lima, Ohio. Dorothy attended Lima Public Schools and graduated from South High School. After graduation she started her career at Saint Rita Hospital as a Medical Laboratory Technician. Dorothy did not stop there; after meeting the love of her life, Paul Smith, the two married in 1949, and soon moved to Cleveland, Ohio in the early 1950’s. And with this union, three sons were born; Paul Smith, Jr., Terry Smith, and the late David Allen Smith. Dorothy continued her education in nursing at Man Power Institute of Nursing. She worked many years at Margaret Wagner Nursing Home and the McGregor Retirement Center where she finally retired. Dorothy loved to help and care for others so much that she went back into the work field to care privately for many doctors in Cleveland. Having a love for people, went right along with being the loving mother of her three sons, after the death of their father in 1969. Dorothy’s “world was her boys.” (In her voice) They brought all the pride and joy any mother ever needed, she was well known for her love for family. One son, David Allen Smith (Lynette) and four brothers proceeded Dorothy in death, Clifford, Donald, Haskell, and Jessie Woodley. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories, her sons, Paul Smith, Jr. (Debra), Terry Smith (Deborah), sisters, Bernice Upthegrove, Stella Clark, and Ruthann Ward, all of Lima, Ohio; Barbara Stewart of Cleveland, Ohio; brothers, Willis Woodley of Lima, Ohio and Norman Woodley (Charlene), of Detroit, Michigan; grandchildren, Paul, Ericka, Dominique, Krystle (Jerrod), Chalese, Chaprice (Larry), Terry, Nigel, and Keva; 18 great-grandchildren, 3 very close friends, Elaine Albright, Mrs. Willa Mae Harris, and Marlene, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
