Darwin Shepherd Obituary Darwin Dwayne Shepherd was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 20, 1966 as a blessing to George and Ida Shepherd. He lived most of his life between 140th and 142nd off of Kinsman Avenue. He attended James A. Rhodes High School. Darwin loved electronics, music and videos. During his younger years he was a DJ, even appearing frequently on the local radio station doing mix music. He went by the nickname of Double D. He was also an avid fisherman and cook. Every holiday, as was the tradition in his family’s household, you could find him barbecuing and smoking ribs, chicken, brats and like. Darwin was blessed with a small group of lifelong friendships. He was quiet, reserved and a hard worker. His most notable jobs were with Rent-A-Center and later with Home Depot. He could tell you a thousand funny, but true, stories about his days at Rent-A-Center. He professed faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the home going service of his late mother, Ida Shepherd. Following his profession of faith, he attended regular Bible studies with Al Woolley to help better understand and live out his faith. During his latter years, his loving and faithful sister, Charlie Mae Freeman, provided care, spiritual nurturing, medical advocacy and just anything else he needed to live a life as full as possible under the circumstances. Darwin is preceded in death by his parents, George and Ida Shepherd; and three sisters, Barbara Jean Redd, Francis Wilcoxson and Shirley Newton. He leaves his legacy of love to four children, Shawniece Shepherd, Deangelo Shepherd, Shante Shepherd and Chantea Giles; three grandchildren, Hayden Giselle Hart, Royalty Kylnn Shepherd and Harley Jade Hart; one sister, Charlie Mae Freeman (Scipio) and one brother George Shepherd, Jr.; five special friends who were like siblings Lloyd Robinson (Tracey), Ben Wherry, Fred Hamilton, Lodovic (Dodie) Thomas and Susie Brown; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
