Darrell Law Obituary Darrell Wayne Law (affectionately known as “DLAW”) was born February 21, 1956 in Mullens, West Virginia to Inez Morris and Jack Law. God called him home on Christmas morning, in the year of our LORD 2022. Darrell spent his formative years with his parents and older brother Jack (affectionately known as “Pookie”) living in Beachwood, West Virginia until a house fire caused them to relocate to Martinsville, Virginia. Inez and her sons then moved to East Orange, New Jersey where they shared the home of Darrell’s beloved sister Maxine. As he grew, Darrell took pride in caring for his mother and gaining insight from his many football and baseball coaches like Brian Hill and Barry Cohen. These positive influences played an integral role in Darrell and his Clifford J. Scott High School baseball team winning the New Jersey state championship in 1973, his senior year. Being a non-ranked team, it was a “Cinderella Story”! Receiving a scholarship to Denison University in Granville, Ohio he completed his Bachelor of Arts degree and met the love of his life, Teresa Corine Webb. They ‘locked arms’ in 1976 and he proposed marriage the following year as they left the college campus. They were joined in Holy Matrimony on July 15th, 1978 in Cleveland, OH. From their union were born Veronica Michelle, David Andrew, and Terrance Phillip Law. Darrell became a long-time member of East Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was re-baptized on October 27, 1996, alongside his son David. During the course of his professional career, this man held various management positions at St. Luke’s, South Pointe (formerly Suburban), and University Hospitals. His most recent assignment was at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. He was a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST). Darrell was a devoted Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin, and Grandad. He made countless beautiful memories with his Granddaughters, especially in his last years. In addition to family, Darrell had a passion for music and sports, especially baseball and football. He shared his coaching and mentorship abilities with many youngsters whenever given the opportunity. Some of them even went on to enjoy professional sports careers. Darrell was inducted into the United States Flag & Touch Football League Hall of Fame in 2007. DLAW dedicated himself to each aspect of his life and formed many meaningful connections. He was preceded in death by his parents Inez Morris and Jack Law, but leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Teresa, and his three children, sister Maxine (Doug) Aiken, brother Jack Law, Jr., and granddaughters Noelle Corrine and Laila Yvette Toppin. He also leaves a host of friends and family from church, work, and play … from Cleveland to New Jersey to West Virginia. All have their own unique “DLaw stories” to tell. Darrell was truly loved and admired by all! Darrell Wayne Law, age 66, departed this life peacefully December 25, 2022. He was a former Mail Room Supervisor at University Hospitals and was employed at St. Luke’s Hospital for over 20 years before it closed. He was the beloved husband for 44 years of Teresa B. Law, cherished father of Veronica M. Toppin, David A. Law and Terrance P. Law, dear brother of Maxine Aiken and Jack Law, Jr., devoted grandfather of 2, and loved by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, other relatives, and friends.
