Clifton Bobo, Sr. Obituary Obituary Clifton Adelbert Bobo, Sr. Clifton Adelbert Bobo was born to the union of Samuel and Bessie Bobo and arrived on June 10, 1947 as their first bundle of joy..... later came Sisters Cheryl and Crystal. Clifton grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. Starting his education at Robert Fulton Elementary, continuing to Alexander Hamilton Junior High. in 1965 he graduated from John Adams High School. Afterward, he enrolled in Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) where he earned an Associate degree in Accounting. Along with the family, Clifton, from childhood worshipped at Antioch Baptist Church, having been baptized by long-term pastor, the Reverend Wade Hampton McKinney. In youthful years, Clifton was absorbed first with bike riding and rollerskating; but most of all, passionately with the entire family followed baseball. He could be found frequently playing the game with neighborhood friends. Growing up in the midst of the Motown Sound, Clifton was captured by the rhythms of that musical era throughout his life. He seldom missed a chance to hear his favorite artist, Diana Ross, in live concert. He enjoyed comedy entertainment as well. In 1967 with the blessing of holy matrimony, Clifton and JoAnne Davis established their family. Later were added two beautiful children, DeAundrea Elaine and Clifton Adelbert II. Father and children overtime bonded around music, baseball and comedy entertainment. Clifton lived his later years much in the vain of his early life. He maintained a close alliance with childhood friend Edwin Walton (Uncle Ed); comradery with John Adams High School through his support of the class of ‘65 reunion celebration committee; travel to connect with special Chicago Cousins. Working as a dedicated member in the field of Security Management for nearly 30 years, Clifton’s final post was in the employ of the Judson’s Retirement Community. He will be remembered as a man that enjoyed and valued life; family and friendships. “Delbert” as family called him, was a dutiful son, brother, husband and father, enjoying simple pleasures. In favorable weather, he could be found in the back yard with grill, pool, Motown music and loved ones. Here he was in his element... a life of simple pleasures. Beginning in 2018 Clifton experienced considerable health challenges coupled with the death of his wife of nigh 30 years, Tonette Stevens Bobo (July 2018). Although with limited vitality and independence he lived valiantly and yet our beloved Clifton Adelbert Bobo did not wish to be held back from the arms of God and surrendered to Him on May 21, 2020. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!! Forever lovingly cherished by his children DeAundrea E. Robinson-White and Clifton A. Bobo II; Sisters Cheryl J. Bobo and Crystal M. E. Thompson (Felix); Grandchildren Darrell Bobo, Brittany and Malik Robinson; and three Great Grandchildren. He is remembered as a special Uncle to Edwin Jelani Dortch and family (Janai) and Camille Thompson. He will be fondly remembered and missed by former wife JoAnn Elkins (née Davis), a host of Cousins, his oldest friend of 63 years, Edwin Walton, and other John Adams High School Class of ‘65 friends. His life remembered with a virtual memorial service on June 10, 2020, his birthdate. His remains will be interred at Highland Park Cemetery.
