Charles Thorington Obituary OBITUARY CHARLES COBB THORINGTON SR MAY 21, 1923 - JULY 17, 2022 Charles was born in Cleveland, Ohio May 21, 1923, to the late Morris and Mamie Thorington. He was the youngest of four children. His sister Anne Burford, Dorothy Thorington and brother Morris Thorington preceded him in death. Along with his older brother Morris, Charles was called to duty and served in the US Army during World War ll. He was assigned to the 316th ORD AMMUNITION CO and received two “Bronze Stars”, Good Conduct, and Victory Medal. Charles was the proud father of Charles C Thorington Jr, Karen Smith, Leslie Thorington all of whom preceded him death, and Vida Thorington. He was also the stepfather to Elliott Jordan who also preceded him in death, Doris Fox, and Lois Walker. Charles loved spending time with his family and relatives. He enjoyed taking nephews, nieces, grand kids, no matter how old to the circus, airshow, ice capades, it became a tradition. After a long work life Charles retired from the US Post Office in 1984. He would spend his leisure time building model airplanes and cars, going to movies, bowling and Cleveland Browns game. Charles was a regular at Nitetown for jazz concerts and wherever else there was a jazz concert in Cleveland. He was always inviting family and friends to his favorite events. On July 17, 2022, Charles transitioned peacefully in his home that he shared with his daughter. He leaves to mourn his daughter: Vida Thorington, stepdaughters: Lois Walker and Doris Fox, grandchildren: Charles C Thorington lll, Neikesha Thorington, Richard Thorington, Nigel Thorington, Omari Jordan, Charmagne Hunter, Christina Gregory, Taesasha Gregory, Michel Ferrell, great grandchildren: Cyan Thorington, Laila Thorington, Sienna Thorington, Carmella Gregory, NeMari Jordan, Charles C Thorington lV , Chelsea Thorington, DeAndre Thorington, Dalante Green, Anthony Perry Jr, Nathan Ferrell, Caleb Ferrell, Isaiah Ferrell, six great- great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. We were all blessed to have you here with us for a very long time, now its time to rest in heaven.
