Barbara Garrett Obituary Barbara was born November 2, 1952. Barbara was predeceased by parents Willie Frank Powell and Louise Powell. Barbara was the fourth of 14 children. The family resided in Camden, Alabama. Barbara received Christ at an early age where she attended Rockwest Baptist Church- Pastor McNeil in Camden, Alabama. Barbara sang in the church choir in her younger years. Barbara attended grade school at Canton Bend School. Barbara attended her middle/high school years at Camden Academy where she also graduated in 1971. After high school, Barbara moved to New Jersey with a dear best friend also predeceased named Alma Lee Pettiway. Sweden Alma’s mother took Barbara in just like a child of her own and had a major influence on her life. In New Jersey, Barbara attended Dover Business College where she took up a trade in key punch operating. Barbara decided that she wanted to better herself, so she moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she met George Garrett. They started life together and unto them a union was formed. One child was born, Tasha Garrett. The two married shortly after. Barbara ended up landing a job at a manufacturing company known as Femco. She worked as a technician in which she made fluorescent lights and fixtures. Barbara really excelled in her position. Barbara enjoyed cooking and baking and when she cooked, she put a lot of “LOVE” in it. If it was not a lot...everyone was still welcome to it, but she made it stretch. Barbara loved laughing, talking on the phone, and watching her soap operas. Before the decline in mobility, Barbara loved to go out shopping and find a good sale. Barbara had a beautiful spirit, never selfish and kind-hearted. If you have a chance to conversate with Barbara, most of the time you will feel uplifted afterwards for she always had a listening ear. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Tasha Garrett-Hudson (Alonzo); Four grandchildren: Rayshawn, Demarion, Alonzo Jr. and Ziare.; Five great-grandchildren: Demarion Jr. ZaKari, Malik, Zamir, Naomi; Sisters: Loretta McDaniel, Jeanette Williams, Carolyn Foye, Patsy Parker, Wanda Powell; Brothers, Willie Powell and Timothy Powell; Special Cousin, Frances Garrett; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many relatives and good friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Sherlean Bumpers, Doris Austin, Otis Powell, Nathanial Powell, Ronald Powell Kenneth Powell. Barbara touched the lives of many people.
