Althea Cook Obituary Althea Isabella Drake Cook was born on April 22, 1933, to the late Ephraim and Frances Drake, she was the third of 10 children. She was raised in Cleveland, Ohio and attended Cleveland Public Schools, graduating from John Hay High School. She was a long-time employee of Mr. Coffee Company as well as the State of Ohio Adult Rehabilitation Center, where she served as a case worker. She was a skilled seamstress with Brooks Brothers Company where she made men’s suits. She retired as a private duty home health aide. Althea loved everyone who came into her life, offering advice and prayers. She was deeply devoted to her family and church families. She confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Everlasting Baptist Church under Pastor Dewitt Chappell and lastly a long-time member of Elizabeth Baptist Church under Pastor Richard Gipson. Until she fell ill. Althea served in various ministries in the church such as Usher Board and the Clothing Ministry. She took her servitude as a privilege unto God. Althea is survived by two daughters, Chaplain – Dr. Alicia Cook Smallwood and Minister Rita Cook Barajas. She also leaves six grandchildren: Mikell Smallwood, Anjelica Drake (Dorian,) Alejandro Barajas (Melody), Rosita Henson (Jarvis), Scott Smallwood, Joseph Smallwood (Courtney). Thirteen great grandchildren: LaRon, Donald, Jawan, Alexis, Treyvon, Rylyn, Dorian, III, Kymberly, Aliyah, Josiah, Chance, Cydney and Cortln. Three great-great grandchildren: Vision, Damir and Dream. Two sisters, Beatrice Thompson, of Winnsboro, Louisiana, and Ruthann Tabb of Cleveland, Ohio and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
