Alfredia Hubbard Obituary Alfredia Forbes Hubbard, known as “Free Free or Fredia” was born in Cleveland Ohio, October 28, 1947, and transitioned to be with the Lord on February 3rd, 2025. The daughter of the late Cleoford A. “Zeke” Forbes and Mary Alice Johnson Forbes. Her oldest brother Clifford Forbes, brother Alfred Forbes and sister Eleanor Forbes Shelton of Cleveland, Ohio preceded her in death. In 1966, Alfredia graduated from John Hay HS, Cleveland, Ohio, and in 1971 Fredia graduated from Central State University, Wilberforce, Ohio with a BA in Business and Elementary Education. While attending Central State University, she became a member of the illustrious sorority, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated in 1968, Chi Beta Chapter. After graduation, she taught Elementary School in Cleveland, grades two, three, and five. She loved and was loved by her students. Fredia’s true journey began when she married “her best friend” David L. Hubbard, also a 1971 Central State University graduate, on September 27, 1975, then moved to Glen Cove, New York. Alfredia worked in Glen Cove for the Economic Opportunity Council Director, Hattie Smiler. She also taught Elementary Education classes in the Glen Cove School System. Fredia’s family had always been United Methodist, but after moving to Glen Cove she faithfully joined Calvary African Methodist Episcopal Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Ernest L. Boston. She enjoyed fellowshipping with the children and older ladies and grew in her faith in Christ with the help of friends, Anna Williams, Inez Clements, Lula Ealy, Aunt Dorothy Robinson, Christine Williams, Mary Darson, and others. When Reverend Craig J. Wright and Danita Wright were sent to Pastor and be First Lady of Calvary, Alfredia was at home with family. Sister Fredia served faithfully as a Trustee, Usher, Missionary, Culinary, Finance Committee, and Laity. Fredia worked for Long Island Jewish/Northwell Hospital for 31 years and retired in 2013. Her positions were Human Resource Representative and Human Resource Specialist. She received Certification from Cornell Univ. and in 2004, she received a master’s degree from Univ. of Phoenix, in Human Resources. Fredia loved sports such as Basketball, Football, and Baseball. Her cheers could be heard above the Malverne HS football cheerleaders ringing her cowbell. The Mule Moms and Teams looked forward to her cooking at events. Married David L. Hubbard 49 years, Free Free has two beautiful children, son David William Hubbard, daughter Deanna Levett Hubbard. She has 3 adult grandsons Dah-Keem, Traishawn, and Quadir, and 1 granddaughter Deyonna Monia Alfredia Hubbard, 6 years old. Alfredia leaves to cherish her loving husband David Lee Hubbard, son David William Hubbard, daughter Deanna Levett Hubbard, brother Anthony Craig Forbes, 3 adult grandsons, 1 granddaughter, Esq. Uncle George L. Forbes, Aunt Mary E. Forbes, 1st cousins Esq. Helen Forbes Fields, Esq. Mildred Forbes Beal, Lauren Forbes, Anthony J. Forbes, Ava & Will Woody, Joyce Ann Lewis, 2nd cousins, William Fields, Camille Fields, Brandon Fields, nieces, Jessica Forbes Brown, Stacy Watson, Erica McIntosh, nephews Wesley Forbes, Quentin Forbes.
